Curriculum Information:

ELA – English Language Arts
•  Reading series - Wonders, McGraw-Hill. ELA will be based upon the balanced literacy model.
•  Balanced Literacy includes:
Read Aloud
Shared Reading
Guided Reading
Independent Reading
Word Study
Modeled/Shared Writing
Interactive Writing
Independent Writing

Social Studies/Science:
•  These subjects are taught in themes throughout the year by using hands on experiments and activity based materials.  Content reading, thinking and research skills are taught and literature is often used to enhance the study of certain units.
•  Social Studies units include:  Governing The People, The World Around Us, Using Our Resources, People Long Ago, A World of Many People and People In The Marketplace.
•  Science has three units of study:  Life Science, Earth Science and Physical Science. 
•  Go Math Program which is a hands-on approach to teaching math aligned to the NJ Common Core Curriculum Standards.
•  The students will do hands on activities, games, and assignments in their math journals with a computer component. Weekly tests will be given for math facts.
•  The children will learn strategies for solving math story problems.
•  Your child will come home with math homework Monday-Thursday.
